Sarah Mitchell
Senior Travel Editor & Flight Deal Expert
About Sarah
Sarah Mitchell didn't plan to become a travel writer. In 2009 she was working as a marketing manager in London when she quit her job, bought a one-way ticket to Bangkok with $4,000 in savings, and told herself she'd be back in three months.
She wasn't back in three months.
Fifteen years and 68 countries later, Sarah has become one of the most trusted voices in budget and flight deal travel. She has written for Lonely Planet, Travel + Leisure, The Guardian Travel section, and was a contributing editor at Condé Nast Traveller from 2015 to 2019.
Her obsession with flight pricing algorithms began when she noticed that two friends who'd booked the same flight to Tokyo had paid prices $340 apart. She spent six months systematically testing different booking strategies and timing patterns, and published the findings in a series of articles that generated over 2 million reads.
Sarah now writes exclusively about flight deals, budget travel strategies, and loyalty programs. She spends approximately eight months of the year traveling and four months at her base in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she tests booking strategies obsessively and writes honestly about what actually works.
